Standard forks on an autonomous forklift do not fit every load carrier.
At a high-end electronic materials manufacturing factory in Anhui, China, REEMAN customized the Titan Mini Autonomous Forklift to work directly with the customer’s existing wheeled mobile material tank trolley.
The trolley and material weigh approximately 275 kg. Custom fork arms designed around the trolley’s existing steel base allow the Titan Mini to pick it up directly without adding a standard pallet.
The forklift then completes an approximately 260 m one-way point-to-point transport route using LiDAR-based Laser SLAM navigation . Under the current site configuration, one complete operating cycle takes about 4.5 minutes. Travel speed is adjustable, the forklift can stop automatically when a person or obstacle enters the safety zone, and it returns automatically to its charging point after delivery.

The Challenge: Standard Forks Did Not Match the Existing Trolley
The customer already used wheeled mobile material tank trolleys in its production process.
These trolleys were not standard pallets. Each trolley had its own steel base structure and wheels and was already part of the factory’s existing material-handling workflow.
When the customer wanted to automate transport, replacing all of those existing carriers would have added unnecessary changes to the production process.
The real question was therefore not:
It was:
REEMAN chose to adapt the forklift to the trolley.
Custom Fork Arms Designed Around the Existing Steel Base
The mobile material tank trolley uses a steel bottom frame that is structurally different from a conventional wooden or plastic pallet.
Standard autonomous forklift forks were therefore not the best fit for the existing carrier.
Instead of asking the customer to redesign the trolley or add another pallet underneath it, REEMAN designed a set of custom fork arms for the Titan Mini.
The forks were adapted around the trolley’s existing steel base so they could enter the available pickup position, lift the complete carrier and provide stable support during transport.
Direct Pickup Without an Additional Pallet
When a transport task begins, the REEMAN Titan Mini autonomously travels to the pickup point.
As it approaches the trolley, the forklift adjusts its position and aligns the customized fork arms with the steel frame underneath the carrier.
Once the correct pickup position is reached, the forks enter beneath the trolley and lift the complete load.
No additional wooden or plastic pallet is required.
In this application, the trolley and its material weigh approximately 275 kg.
The REEMAN Titan Mini has a rated payload of up to 2,000 kg, placing this task well within the forklift’s rated load capacity.
A 260 m Real Factory Transport Route
After pickup, the Titan Mini begins an approximately 260-meter one-way point-to-point transport route through the customer’s actual production area.
This is not a short demonstration route.
The autonomous forklift is performing a real internal logistics task between working areas inside the factory.
The route therefore tests more than whether the robot can simply move with a load. It requires the forklift to operate as part of an active production environment.
LiDAR Navigation, Adjustable Speed and Safety
During transport, the Titan Mini uses LiDAR-based Laser SLAM navigation to continuously perceive the surrounding environment.
Travel speed can be adjusted according to route conditions, factory traffic and safety requirements.
This is important because a real factory is not a static environment.
Workers, equipment, other trolleys and temporary obstacles may appear near the transport route.
If a person or obstacle enters the configured safety zone, the Titan Mini can stop automatically.
The objective is not simply to make the forklift travel faster.
The objective is to make the transport process work reliably in the customer’s actual production environment.
Precise Placement at the Destination
When the Titan Mini reaches the delivery point, it adjusts its position again.
The mobile material tank trolley is lowered smoothly into the designated location.
The customized fork arms then withdraw from underneath the steel base, and the forklift leaves the working area.
Under the current site configuration, one complete operating cycle takes approximately 4.5 minutes.
The published case video is shown at approximately 4× speed, allowing viewers to see the complete real workflow in about one minute.
Actual operating time may vary depending on travel-speed settings, factory traffic, temporary obstacles and safety configuration.
Automatic Return to Charging
The workflow does not stop after the trolley has been delivered.
Once the transport task is complete, the REEMAN Titan Mini autonomously returns to its designated charging point.
This step is important in a continuous automation workflow.
If an operator still had to drive the forklift back for charging after every task, the process would still contain an unnecessary manual step.
In this application, pickup, transport, placement and return to charging form one connected operating cycle.
Complete Workflow
The most important result is not simply that the forklift can drive autonomously.
The customer did not have to rebuild its material-handling process around the robot.
The original trolley remains in use.
The existing steel base remains unchanged.
The approximately 275 kg load remains.
The approximately 260 m transport requirement remains.
What This Case Means for Other Factories
Many factories already use non-standard load carriers, including:
- Mobile material trolleys
- Tank trolleys
- Custom carts
- Metal racks
- Wire mesh cages
- Production-line carriers
Introducing autonomous material handling does not always mean replacing all of them.
Depending on the carrier structure and operating environment, a more practical solution may be to customize the robot around the existing workflow.
For this project, that meant adapting the fork arms to the customer’s trolley.
FAQ
Can standard autonomous forklift forks handle every load carrier?
No. Different trolleys, racks, pallets and custom carriers can have different bottom structures and pickup positions. In this project, REEMAN customized the Titan Mini fork arms around the customer’s existing steel-base trolley.
Can an autonomous forklift transport a non-standard mobile tank trolley?
Yes. In this application, the REEMAN Titan Mini directly picks up and transports the customer’s existing mobile material tank trolley using customized fork arms.
Does the customer need to replace the existing trolley?
No. The original trolley remains in use. The forklift was customized to work with the existing carrier.
Is an additional pallet required?
No. The custom fork arms work directly with the trolley’s existing steel base structure.
How much weight is transported in this case?
The trolley and material weigh approximately 275 kg. The REEMAN Titan Mini has a rated payload of up to 2,000 kg.
How far does the autonomous forklift travel?
The one-way distance from the pickup point to the delivery point is approximately 260 m.
How long does one complete operating cycle take?
Under the current site configuration, one complete cycle takes approximately 4.5 minutes.
Can the Titan Mini travel speed be adjusted?
Yes. Travel speed can be configured according to route conditions, factory traffic and safety requirements.
What happens if a person or obstacle enters the safety zone?
The Titan Mini can stop automatically when a person or obstacle enters the configured safety area.
Can the Titan Mini automatically return to charging?
Yes. After completing the delivery, the Titan Mini autonomously returns to its designated charging point.
If your factory also uses non-standard trolleys, racks, cages, carts or other custom load carriers, send REEMAN the carrier structure, dimensions and actual transport workflow so the application can be evaluated.
